Gallipolis In Lights

I belong to a wonderful group called Gallipolis In Lights. This is our third year lighting up our city park and it all started with a thought and a desire to make our downtown even more beautiful during the Christmas season. We wanted to make it a family tradition to gather in town square the night before Thanksgiving to light up the park. Some of my fondest memories as a child are walking with my Mom downtown Christmas shopping listening to the hustle and bustle of people on the streets wishing each other Merry Christmas with Christmas music playing in the air. I want my daughter to have beautiful memories of Christmas and downtown once she is grown as well so I joined forces with yet another group to help make that happen for her. After our first Gallipolis In Lights meeting, I told her – when you are older and have children of your own and you bring them downtown for the park lighting, you can say – I attended the first meeting with my Momma.

Gallipolis In Lights is a team of Christmas enthusiasts who want to bring Christmas lights and beauty to our town during the holiday season. We work together to showcase our wonderful city park and the rest of our growing downtown area, especially during the joyful Christmas season each year.

Our overall plan:  We will be working over the next several years to progressively fill Gallipolis with an abundance of holiday decor that people will want to take the time to experience and visit our community. Our goal is to have people of all ages, near and far, visit our area for the display of lights during the holiday season and support our local vendors during the most wonderful time of the year! We want to create a growing Christmas wonderland that will make beautiful and lasting memories for our children and grandchildren.

We are holding a workshop tomorrow evening at Courtside on 2nd Avenue tomorrow evening to show the community how easy it is to make the light balls in hopes that people will start making them to hang in their own trees throughout Gallia County and beyond! Food, fun, music and light ball instructions! What more could anyone want on a Monday night?!

So excited to kick of the Christmas season with family and friends making our small town light up!

Here is a video we reference that explains the light ball process. How to Make Lighted Christmas Balls

We hope to see you Wednesday, November 25, 2015 with festivities beginning at 5:30 pm and the park lighting at 7:00 pm. THE Santa Claus will make his appearance as well! It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
