Porch Camping • On The One Four One

As the sun set and the air changed from warm to a cool breeze, I said to GW, “we should sleep outside on the porch”. Without saying a word, he went inside for what I thought was a touch of more red wine when the alert for the driveway camera chimed on my phone. I opened the app and heard a different noise but quickly realized it was the sound of the air compressor. He’s blowing up the air mattress – I said to myself. The next thing I know is he’s coming out the front door with the air mattress inflated.

It was so cozy!!! The fan was on for air and noise which it got pretty chilly! The cry of coyotes in the field woke me up twice. Coal was low key growling at one point which he NEVER does making me a little nervous but I knew nothing could come up on the porch. But still, you mind wonders if that is completely true.

The glow from two citronella candles, the breeze and hum from the fan, the coziness of the blankets and light comforter with Coal curled up between us was sheer perfection to say the least.

When I awoke to the beauty of the fog hanging in the air every so lightly with the sun starting to peek over the hill, I stared at all it’s beauty and gave thanks to Jesus for this life He has blessed me with. I never start a day without thanking Him for another one.

My GW was so cozy that I insisted that he stay put and enjoy the morning sun and the cool breeze as I prepared our breakfast. And if you know my GW, it is very hard for him to just rest. He is on the go all of the time. Like right now as I write this, he is at my parents’ home, weed eating, hanging a new flag on the flag pole, and mowing the yard before coming home to mow here.

My encouragement to you, my friend, would be to take an impromptu moment and do something you don’t normally do. It rejuvenates the mind, body and soul.

Have an amazing day!!

XOXO ~ PGWW
