The law most generally shows up to every Family Dinner. Not because we are bad kids but because my nephew and one of my best friends (who is more like a brother) are both sergeants of our sheriff’s department. Got your attention didn’t I?!
Our next Family Dinner, we will have a new little Great – baby LAW. His initials have big meaning. I will introduce him next month 💙 I have joked with the family that I am going to order pizzas for our February Family Dinner and that they all have to serve themselves as they will find me in the chair holding my new Great – baby LAW. I’m joking of course! 🤭
The menu for January Family Dinner was Mexican which included:
- Homemade Chicken Quesadillas and Cheese Quesadillas
- Taco Meat served with shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, pico, tomatoes, guacamole, jalapeños, sour cream, black olives, white onions, black beans, rice, refried beans, shredded chicken, tortilla wraps and tortilla scoop chips.
- Cowboy Caviar
- Chips, Salsa & Queso from the kids’ favorite local Mexican restaurant – El Toril
- And for dessert – Homemade Fried Ice Cream linked here!

I bought a couple of new games to keep The Greats entertained. Twister and a bunch of card games. Twister was so cute to watch them play.

A pro tip for anyone following along our Family Dinners – get a notebook dedicated for your meals. This is how I plan out our meals. I add every thought I have to serve for the month allowing me to build my grocery list and a reference for the following years! My niece is great about documenting our meals through photos. I have had to ask her in the past what did we eat certain months with her reply – let me look! Next month, I plan on serving Italian. They all love my homemade spaghetti sauce!
So until then, stay warm and cozy! My hope is that our Family Dinners are an inspiration to others to do the same in your own ways. Big or small – just begin. The best memories are made together!
Until next time – XOXO – PGWW

I was needing some “One Four One” style and joy! A lovely treat to see your Family Dinner post. You did grab my attention with the reference to the law… and the Baby LAW! So happy for all of you. I will be looking forward to his introduction. You also grabbed my attention with the Mexican buffet. We are all about FOOD in our small family. Lots of choices there… nothing I would pass up😋 I am a lover of chicken quesadillas with everything piled on top. The homemade fried ice cream! You definitely inspire with your Family Dinners. We haven’t had family get-togethers since we left home in 2018. I miss them. But I get a kick out of your big happy family dinners. I love that you share them with photos. I will be looking forward to your homemade spaghetti sauce and “Great – baby LAW”… of course!

Do you have folks where you live now that are like family….?

Sort of. But family has that glue thing going on☺️ We do have 2 couples that we try to get together with for Sunday dinner comfort food every so often.

I completely understand!! It’s the togetherness with people you enjoy being around that feeds the soul.
You all should put it on the calendar to get together at each other’s homes, giving you all something to look forward to and plan for it’s crazy good knowing that date is coming up on the calendar. It just does something for me for sure!

Yes! The people that feed your soul and that you trust. The people who don’t care about how quirky you… er, I am🤭 Jerry’s younger brother (70) and his wife will be here Saturday. They rent a condo about two hours south of us for the February-March season every year.
I think a dedicated date is a good idea!

OhMyGosh—Laughing here! I guarantee it won’t be as much fun as your Big Family. We are old, not spring chicks but still young at heart. Sis-in-law and I will catch up on all things important and not so important while drinking a bit of wine and the brothers will sip on rye whiskey and we will eat good food. Then south they go. Their kids and their families will come… they are booked… and we will stay home and let them have a great time. Now if we were 20 years younger… 💃

Sounds just like our family!! Wine & Whiskey 🤭 Sis In Law • Brother • Kids
It doesn’t matter the size (nor age • carry in and delivery counts too!) just the people surrounding each other!!
