Dear Santa ~ I’ll take it from here.

Dear Santa,

Since 2003, you have blessed McKenzie with every thing she has ever asked for on her Christmas lists. I remember the only time she didn’t get what she asked for was because she asked too late and the American Girl make up case she wanted had already been spoken for by other little girls. The beautiful letter that you left in its place was quite the surprise. I will never forget my Dad getting choked up when she read the letter to us. And to be honest, I did too.

Last year when she didn’t ask for anything, you were ever so thoughtful in leaving a bell in a beautiful box under the tree just like the one in one of our many favorite Christmas movies The Polar Express. When I asked her if it rang for her, she said yes. Even though it has fallen silent for a lot of people, I can assure you that as for myself, it still rings for me. I will forever & always truly believe.

McKenzie knows that if she doesn’t ask for anything – nothing can be left. I know in my heart that by you leaving the bell for her last year, it is a reminder to always remember the magic and that sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we cannot see. And though she has grown older and the lists have stopped, I will take it from here. I know I won’t be as good as you have been all of these years when it comes to filling her stocking but I will do my best and most likely will be asking Greg to help!!! And, thank you for always remembering Cash & Coal. You have always been so good to leave the boys their favorite treats.

As I know you keep a tight schedule on Christmas Eve with having so much to get done in so little time, it truly would mean the world to me if you would please continue to stop by our house – not to leave anything – but to get a Magic Cookie Bar for the road. Food is my love language and I want to thank you for all of the magic you have brought into my life.

Also, we will be making reindeer food on Christmas Eve at Mawmaw’s like we do every year and will be leaving some out for the boys. I am sure that carrots are healthier for them but the love that we pour into the oatmeal with the red and green glitter is special. I will be bagging some up for my brother’s family to take with them so you will find more down State Route 218 but you know that already.

We will be listening on my brother’s fire radio for the sighting of your sleigh. I always get so excited when the tones drop that your sleigh has been sighted!! Safe travels and Merry Christmas!!

~ XOXO ~
