
We held this month’s Family Dinner on July 27th and the meal theme was KIDS’ CHOICE!! It was a menagerie of items that went like this –
- Miss Canaa – Texas Roadhouse Style Green Beans & French Fries
- Miss Ella – Strawberries, Raspberries, Breadsticks, Nuggies & Walmart Sugar Cookies
- Miss Hadley – Chicken Nuggets & String Cut French Fries
- Miss Annalee – Hot Dogs
- Master Luke – Pork Chops
Along with the always asked for at every dinner the standard lemonade and homemade strawberry sorbet.
What a menu, right??!! My quandary was – what do I add to this menu that will accommodate all of the above yet bring more to the table for them and the adults.
So, we also had for the very first time, smoked chicken drumsticks served with celery and homemade ranch dressing – delish!! Homemade Mac & Cheese. Homemade fruit dip for the strawberries & raspberries.
Bruschetta with roasted grape tomatoes, homegrown minced garlic and homegrown basil prepared on a grilled French bread slice with Carfagna’s handmade burrata cheese!
AND – my aunt intuition was correct when Mikayla let us find out that we are getting a baby boy!!!
Everyone got a little bit of swim time in until the storm rolled through. Poor Ella was stung and bit by a wasp on the front porch swing. I made her a paste out of Accent and water just like my Grandma Lena Belle did for me when I was little.
