There was a time I missed home that I didn’t enjoy my time away. I guess it comes with age that I haven’t thought of Ohio much at all. When we were here in March, it was one of the most relaxing trips I’ve taken. This one has been the same – due in part not missing Ohio. I love myhome but home is where your heart is and my heart is with me.
My GW has worked over much of the summer and has most of our over 20 years together which means we miss each other but we don’t miss each other. It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else but us. Therefore, comments are unwarranted and unnecessary.
And once we find our place on the ocean, I’ll be the one gone all summer. He will fly back and forth. That’s how hard work pays off.
But for today, I will enjoy these moments in the sun with my best friend. We will pack up this evening after another amazing evening together and prepare for our flight home in the morning.
A new school year awaits and I’m looking forward to being back amongst my students, their parents and my colleagues. I love making a difference in young lives and love that at the end of their journey with us they ask if I’m coming to their graduations.
Sometimes I’ve questioned the ways my life has changed in ways beyond my control and then I realize I’m not in control. God is and that is all that matters to me. The rest is just a part of my story which has led me to where I am today and for that, I’m so very thankful.
